Talk about landing with an almighty thud. Most manufacturers launch one car at a time, but Nissan's luxury brand, Infiniti, has decided to jump in with both feet by launching an entire range of cars.

So what we have here is the G37 Coupe and the G37 Sedan (that's a saloon to you and me), which make up half of the four-model family.

Under the bonnet
You can have the choice of any engine – as long as it's a 316bhp 3.7-litre V6 petrol. Hmm. A diesel is being worked on at the moment and will be launched in 2010.

Anyway, the V6 in the Coupe is smooth and provides strong acceleration, both away from a standstill and when overtaking. It definitely works best when you're working it harder, but the slick six-speed manual makes it easy to do this – it's precise with a sportily short throw. If you're the sort who likes stirring the cogs yourself, it's great.
