Rising fuel prices could be behind a drop in the number of speeding fines, according to a road traffic law firm.

Road Traffic Law says that the number of calls it has received about speeding have fallen by 50% year-on-year, and believes this is because drivers are slowing down to save fuel.

'People are trying to find the most efficient speeds for their cars,' said the company's Graham Walker.

However, the organisation also says that the knock-on effect of drivers slowing down is that traffic jams are growing.
