Driving tests are being made harder from next month, with the addition of more questions in the theory section.
The change, implemented by the Driving Standards Agency, is designed to broaden candidates' knowledge and lead to higher standards.
The new test will involve 50 multiple-choice questions, with candidates needing to get 43 (86%) correct to pass.
Candidates will have 57 minutes to answer the questions, rather than the current 35 minutes.
The cost of the test has also risen from £21.50 to £28.50.
The new test will be introduced on September 3. Anyone who has already booked a test on or after this date will be notified about the changes.
