Engineering growth for Tata in the UK

- 40% increase in staff at Warwick centre
- Will add to the 240 engineers already at work
- Centre is behind the electric Vista and Pixel city cars
Tata will boost its UK engineering centre staff by 40% over the next two years.
The Indian company, which owns Jaguar Land Rover, has invested more than £85 million at the University of Warwick-based Tata Motors' European Technical Centre (TMETC) since 2005, with 240 engineers already working at the site.
The TMETC developed the Indica-based Vista electric car, which we drove at the Geneva motor show, and the Nano-based Pixel city car, which was also unveiled at the show.
The Vista will be built in Warwick and will be available to fleet customers from this summer for around £23,000 to £25,000 after the Government's £5000 electric car incentive has been taken into account.
Tata says it will launch a car based on the Pixel, which averages 83mpg and emits 89g/km of CO2, within the next five years.
