The engines
The Q5 will go on sale with one petrol and two diesel engine options.
The 207bhp 2.0-litre petrol has 258lb ft of pulling power and powers the car from 0-62mph in 7.2sec, reaching a top speed of 138mph. It averages 26.7mpg.
The 167bhp 2.0-litre diesel has 258lb ft of torque and records a 0-62mph time of 9.5sec, hitting a top speed of 127mph. It averages 35.1mpg.
The most powerful engine in the range is the 235bhp 3.0-litre diesel, which has 369lb ft of pulling power, taking the car from 0-62mph in 6.5sec and reaching a top speed of 140mph. It averages 30.55mpg.
The 2.0-litre diesel uses a six-speed manual gearbox, but the other two engines run with a semi-automatic seven-speed gearbox that Audi calls S tronic.
Four-wheel drive will be fitted to the Q5 as standard, with power 40% of power delivered to the front wheels and 60% to the rear ones in normal road conditions. Audi says this is to give the car a sporty, rear-biased drive.
