Euro NCAP safety latest - Introduction

25 May 2008
Safety organisation Euro NCAP has released the test crash scores for six UK-bound cars, with all of them achieving the maximum four-star rating for child occupant safety.

To coincide with the release of the results, Euro NCAP has reiterated its belief that ISOFIX child seat fittings should be available in all cars.

'ISOFIX is the only solution that can reduce the level of misuse [of child seats] and offer an optimal level of protection,' said Michiel van Ratingen, secretary general of Euro NCAP. 'Fortunately, we see more and more manufacturers offering this solution as standard on their vehicles.'

Four of the cars tested also received the maximum five stars for adult protection.

However, Euro NCAP expressed disappointment at the Pedestrian protection scores, with the best result of three stars out of a possible four achieved by three of the cars.
