Skoda has added a Sport trim to its Fabia hatchback, priced just below its top-spec model, the Fabia 3.
Sport models can be distinguished from the rest of the range by their enlarged front spoiler, chrome exhaust pipe and mock rear diffuser.
The sporting theme continues inside with bolstered seats and a three-spoke leather steering wheel.
Equipment levels are generous and includes six airbags, an alarm, air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels and a connection for your iPod.
All of the changes are cosmetic; mechanically the Sport is the same as the standard car.
Buyers expecting fiery performance will be disappointed; the Sport uses the same engines as the Fabia 2 meaning that 1.2 (70 bhp) and 1.6 (105 bhp) petrol engines are available while diesel buyers can choose between 1.4 (80 bhp) and 1.9-litre (105 bhp) units.
Prices start at £10,660 for the 1.2 petrol, rising to £12,795 for the 1.9 diesel. Deliveries are expected to commence at the end of January 2008.
