A face-lifted BMW X3 range goes on sale in the UK this September, with improved performance and a powerful new diesel engine.
In all, two petrol and three diesel engines will be available. The 2.5- and 3.0-litre petrol engines now produce 215 and 268bhp, an increase of 23bhp and 37bhp respectively, but the 148bhp 2.0-litre has been dropped.
The current 2.0- and 3.0-litre diesels continue unchanged, offering 148bhp or 215bhp, but there's a new twin-turbo 3.0-litre diesel that develops 282bhp.
This powerful new X3 darts from 0-62mph in 6.6sec and has a top speed of 149mph. Combined fuel consumption is 32.5mpg.
Figures for the other two diesels are identical to before, but the 2.5- and 3.0-litre petrols are both quicker and more economical than outgoing versions.
Visual changes for the X3 include a larger grille, remodelled front and rear bumpers, updated rear light clusters with LED bulbs and a new rear spoiler. An improved stability control is also now fitted as standard to all models.
Prices and detailed specification won't be announced until later in the year, but expect to pay more than the current spread of £25,285 to £35,445 for the updated and expanded range.
