Facelifted Land Rover Discovery to be shown at Frankfurt
* Face-lifted Land Rover Discovery revealed ahead of Frankfurt debut * Refreshed external looks and badging * Improved fuel economy; deliveries start November...
The face-lifted Land Rover Discovery has been revealed ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt motor show next week.
The 2014 Discovery gets refreshed external styling, improved fuel economy and emissions, revised badging and enhanced technology, comfort and safety features.
Visual changes include a new front grille and bumper, redesigned headlamps, LED daytime running lights and two new alloy wheel designs.
Extra equipment in the car's interior includes wade-depth sensing, blind spot monitoring, and T-junction cameras.
The most noticeable change, however, is to the car's badging – the 'Discovery' name replaces 'Land Rover' on the car's bonnet. Also, the number '4' of Discovery 4 has been removed from the tailgate.
Engine stop-start technology is now standard on the 3.0-litre SDV6, improving fuel economy to 35.3mpg from 32.1mpg, while CO2 emissions drop from 230g/km to 213g/km.
The Discovery's price is likely to rise slightly thanks to the increased specification, but the final figure will be confirmed at the Frankfurt show. Order books are now open for the revised Discovery, with the first deliveries taking place in November.
