  • New One and Cooper D on sale in April
  • Both faster and more economical than before…
  • …but prices are up

Mini One

Faster and more frugal Minis go on sale in April, including a sporty new Cooper D diesel and an entry-level One.

The Mini One uses a new 1.4-litre engine that's more powerful than the 1.6-litre it replaces, and which is also more efficient. The 95bhp is 0.6sec quicker to 62mph with a time of 10.9sec, but returns more than 8mpg more on the combined cycle at 49.6mpg.

Top speed is increased by 6mph to 115mph, while lower emissions drop it from the 22% company car tax band and into the lowest 15% band. The new One is priced from £11,595, £600 more than the old One.

The latest 110bhp Cooper D is significantly quicker than the outgoing diesel, the 0-62mph dash taking two seconds less at 9.9sec. Top speed also increases from 112mph to 121mph.

Fuel consumption is 5.3mpg better than before at 64.2mph, while the car remains in the 18% company car tax band.

The added performance for the Cooper D doesn't come cheap, however. The car is priced from £14,190, an increase of £1970.
