It was great to see our new long-term Honda Civic Tourer arrive in the What Car? car park this week. I’ve spent plenty of time with our Kia Carens recently, so it’ll be interesting to see whether this compact estate car can cope as well with a young family.

Its distinctive rusty red colour (Passion Red) has received plenty of compliments so far, and there's a lot to like on the inside, too. As it's the top-spec model it's packed with useful and indulgent goodies - I'm now hoping there'll be a cold snap just so I can enjoy the heated seats.

First impressions? Well, it's lower than the Carens, so lifting my toddler into his seat doesn't suit my back, but he's learning how to clamber straight into his seat without larking about (with the help of the occasional bribe). The Civic is satisfying to drive, too, and promises good fuel economy. I'll bring you a more in-depth report next week.
