Fiat is recalling 45 Idea small family cars for safety checks on the front suspension.
The manufacturer has found that a weak cross member on the affected cars could cause a creaking noise under braking.
Left unchecked, the cross member could subsequently fail and crack at its union with the vehicle body.
Cars built in March 2005 are potentially affected and have vehicle identification numbers from ZFA35000000080810 to ZFA35000000087024.
Fiat is contacting owners directly with the offer of free checks and remedial work.
Our reviews are based on hard data and thorough testing in the real world.
