Last week we brought you the world debut of the Ford Mondeo concept car direct from the Paris Motor Show; today, we can show you the production car as it starred on the set of the new James Bond movie Casino Royale in the Bahamas.
Although seemingly spy photos, these pictures have been officially sanctioned by Ford to drum up further interest in its important new family car, which will be replaced in June next year.
The car photographed is the hot ST version of the new Mondeo, which won’t roll into showrooms until 2008. It is likely to be powered by the same turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine as the Focus ST.
This sports model is differentiated from regular Mondeos by the large alloy wheels, bigger air intake, side skirts, twin exhausts, discreet boot spoiler and Formula One-inspired rear diffuser.
This is also the first glimpse of the five-door Mondeo, which will be the most popular seller in the UK. The Mondeo concept unveiled in Paris last week previews the estate bodystyle, while a saloon will also be available.
The engine range will also include 1.6 petrol to 2.0-litre petrols and diesels.
Our reviews are based on hard data and thorough testing in the real world.
