Ford is rumoured to be considering selling off Jaguar, but one firm thought to be at the front of the queue for the company says it isn't interested.

Korean manufacturer Hyundai had been linked to a buy-out of the famous British brand as a quick way for it to gain a foothold in the premium and luxury markets.

Now, however, Hyundai has issued a statement saying that while it once considered buying a 'luxury nameplate like Jaguar', it has dropped the idea 'in view of immediate priorities'.

Ford has yet to admit to any plans to sell any of its brands, but some analysts say it might have to wrap up profit-making Land Rover as a sweetener to any Jag deal. Hyundai's statement is likely to make any sell-off more protracted.
