The Ford Focus has overtaken the Ford Fiesta to become the top-selling used car between July and September of this year, with sales of 78,606.
Figures from Experian, the credit expert, revealed the Ford Fiesta – our 2012 Used Car of The Year – was narrowly beaten with sales of 78,243.
A total of 1,757,320 used cars were sold in the UK during the third quarter of 2012, making it the strongest sales period of the year, so far – and slightly up on the same quarter of 2011.
The Ford Focus offers good interior space as well as a sharp, entertaining drive. It’s not without its faults, though, as our recent reliability breakdown shows.
Extremely strong sales of new examples also help to make used Focus prices attractive, too. Our favourite 1.6 TDCi Zetec 5dr model is cheap to buy, run and service – an ‘07/57 car with 50,000 miles on the clock costs around £5700 on the used forecourt.
