Ford is set add to a hot diesel ST model to the face-lifted Focus range.

The new TD hot hatch will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbodiesel with 183bhp, and will reach 60mph from a standing start in just 8.0 seconds. It should also find favour with company car tax payers because it emits just 114g/km of CO2.

Both face-lifted petrol and diesel ST models are expected to go on sale at the end of the year and will benefit from the same exterior and interior enhancements as the regular models, which are being shown for the first time at this week’s Geneva motor show.

Ford product boss Raj Nair also told What Car? to expect a sharper driving experience from the new petrol ST because the suspension and steering systems have been tuned to serve up superior handling to the outgoing model. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine has also been tweaked, improving economy by 7%.
