Ford's new Kuga 4x4 will cost from £20,495 when it goes on sale here this summer.
The Kuga comes with just one choice of engine - a 134bhp 2.0-litre diesel.
Ford says the Kuga achieves 44.1mpg on average and emits 169g/km of carbon dioxide, making it one of the lowest-emitting 4x4s on sale. Only Suzuki's SX4 emits less CO2.
The car has permanent four-wheel drive linked to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Standard Zetec cars cost £20,495 and come with keyless start, air-con and stability control.
Top-trim Titanium models have automatic windscreen wipers and headlights, part-leather interior, climate control and cruise control for a £2000 premium over Zetec.
