Ford's all-new Galaxy will cost from £19,495 when it goes in sale in June, a slight saving of £70 on the current entry-level model.
The new version of the MPV was launched at the Geneva motor show earlier this month. It comes with a choice of three diesel engines and two petrol engines – the diesels comprise a 1.8-litre unit in 99bhp or 123bhp guises, and a 2.0-litre unit producing 141bhp. A 143bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine completes the line-up.
Five-speed gearboxes are standard on all the petrol engines and in the 99bhp and 123bhp 1.8 TDCi LX models. It's also standard on the 123bhp diesel in Zetec trim, but six-speed manual gearboxes are standard with all the diesels in Ghia trim and the 2.0 TDCi Zetec model. For 123bhp diesels in LX and Zetec trim, it's a £200 option.
The new Galaxy is bigger than the outgoing model, and features flatter sides, a straighter tailgate and a lower rear bumper. This allows it to seat seven adults while giving up to 30% more luggage room than the previous car.
All the seats are fixed, but the five individual seats in rows two and three fold to create a low, flat boot floor extension when needed.
