Ford has named its new sporty MPV the S-Max.
Previously code-named SAV, the S-Max is due to go on sale this summer with prices expected to start at around £15,000.
Like the all-new Galaxy MPV – scheduled to be in UK showrooms by May – the S-Max will come with seven seats, the back five of which fold flat into the floor.
Ford's S-Max will use the same chassis as the next Mondeo family car, which is due in 2007.
More details and technical specifications won't be announced until next month, ahead of the car's public launch at the Geneva Motor Show at the end of February, but expect the S-Max to be available with a wide range of engines, including the 2.7-litre V6 turbodiesel already used in Jaguar's S-type and XJ saloons.
