What's the star of the stand?
Cadillac is taking on the likes of BMW's 3 Series and Audi's A4 with its BLS compact executive, so it is coming under close scrutiny in Germany this week.

The BLS is based on a Vauxhall Vectra – Cadillac's parent company GM also owns Vauxhall – and is a Europe-only model that is scheduled to go on sale next spring.

It will be available with three turbocharged petrol engines, and, in a first for Caddy, a 1.9 turbodiesel – which underlines its commitment to provide a competitive European compact exec.

They say
'The front-wheel drive BLS offers an outstanding ride and acoustic comfort. The BLS is geared to specific demands of European and other luxury customers.'

We say
It doesn't look that much different from the Vectra.

Anything else?
Also on show are high-performance versions of its CTS executive saloon and the XLR roadster. The STS-V and XLR-V V8-engined muscle cars will only be available in left-hand drive and will go on sale in Europe in the spring of 2006.
