What's the star of the stand?
Peugeot puts its 407 in pride of place on its stand.

It's little different from the Prologue concept version of the car, which appeared at the Geneva Motor Show. On sale early in 2006, the rakish-looking coupe will probably set you back at least £20,000.

The previous 406 Coupe was designed by Pininfarina, but Peugeot developed this version in-house, and is proud of its more distinctive interior – on show for the first time here today.

Three engines will be available from launch, starting with a 160bhp 2.2-litre petrol. A pair of V6 units will also be on hand – the 3.0-litre petrol offering 211bhp, and a new 2.7-litre diesel with an output of 205bhp.

The new diesel engine has been co-developed with Citroen and Ford and is being used in a large number of different models. It probably will not make it into the 407 saloon and estate until the middle of next year at the earliest.

They say
'It has been designed as a genuine four-seat grand tourer and is the latest in a long line of elegant Peugeot coupes.'

We say
It's certainly a good-looking car and has got ample room inside for four to sit in comfort.

Anything else?
There's the 20Cup – a sharp-handling three-wheeler that you'll never be able to buy. Peugeot says it marks its intention to race in the Le Mans 24-hour endurance marathon. Hopefully with a four-wheel entry, however.
