Frankfurt motor show 2007 - Hummer

11 September 2007
There’s a film star on the Hummer stand: Ratchet, the search and rescue vehicle from Transformers. Underneath it’s the 2008 H2 model, with a 6.2-litre V8 engine putting out 398 hp.

It’s a Hummer, so no mention of alternative fuels, and you’ll need deep pockets to run one. Average economy is just 16mpg, and emissions are hefty at 346g/km.

The new interior includes a third row of seats, both of which can be removed. Clambering in and out of these is strictly for athletic types (or human transformers) and once on board, while head and shoulder room is decent, your knees sit somewhere around your chin.

An electronic stability programme is fitted as standard, and prices start at £46,000.
