Frankfurt motor show 2007 - Jeep

11 September 2007
If you liked the rugged style of the original Jeep Cherokee, chances are you'll be in favour of the overhauled look of the new model, which is launched at the show and goes on sale in the UK in May 2008.

Handling for the four-wheel-drive machine has been improved by new front and rear suspension, as well as refined steering.

Inside, there's more boot and storage, as well as more comfortable seats. A full-length canvas roof is available as an option.

Safety provisions include stability control, traction control, side curtain airbags and tyre pressure monitors.

Power comes from either a 2.8-litre diesel engine, and buyers can choose between a six-speed manual and five-speed automatic gearbox.

Prices will be announced nearer the launch date.

Grand Cherokee
The Jeep Grand Cherokee was also revealed in modestly restyled form at Frankfurt. New features included Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist and Trailer Sway Control.

It is powered by a revised 4.7-litre petrol V8 engine that is 6 per cent more economical than its predecessor.

It goes on sale from late 2007, with prices to be revealed nearer its launch date.
