Frankfurt motor show 2007 - Maserati

11 September 2007
The next all-new model from Maserati isn't due until next year, but at Frankfurt there's the most extreme version of the gorgeous Quattroporte saloon yet to tide us along.

The GT S romps along with the help of the same 395bhp 4.2-litre V8/six-speed auto combination found in other Quattroportes, but there are chassis, styling and interior changes to give it its own character.

The so-called racing chassis set-up puts the front of the car 10mm closer to the ground and the rear 25mm lower, while the suspension layout has been changed and there are different dampers.

The GT S also gets a tougher braking system and unique tyres on seven-spoke 20-inch wheels.

There's a more aggressive black chrome mesh grille, too, plus black side window trims and exhausts, while the door handles are in body colour.

The figure-hugging seats are trimmed in leather and alcantara, and the door panels and steering wheel are finished to match, while the dash features carbonfibre panels and the treads in the sills are aluminium.
