Frankfurt motor show 2007 - Skoda Fabia estate

11 September 2007
The new Fabia estate takes pride of place on Skoda's stand.

Like many new models here in Frankfurt, it is bigger than the car it replaces - 7mm longer and 45mm higher.

That doesn't sound much, but the new car has 54 more litres of space in the boot than the old Fabia.

Fold the rear seats down, and the new estate has 1460 litres of stowage space.

There are six engines available, and petrol fans can choose from 1.2-, 1.4- or 1.6-litre units with 70, 85 or 105bhp respectively.

The diesel choice is between 1.4 units with either 70 or 80bhp or a 1.9 105bhp engine.

All cars come with a five-speed manual gearbox, but the 1.6 petrol can be specified with a six-speed Tiptronic semi-automatic gearbox.

The estate is expected to go on sale in the UK next spring.
