Frankfurt motor show 2007 - Skoda Fabia Scout

Tuesday, September 11, 2007
Skoda has revealed the Fabia Estate Scout concept at Frankfurt.

Like the Octavia and Roomster Scout models already on sale, it has an increased ride height over the standard model and chunky pseudo-4x4 plastic styling.

However, despite the 4x4 styling, this concept is two-wheel drive.

No decision has been made yet if this will go into production, but Skoda does have a history of turning its concept cars into production versions - the Roomster being the most recent example.

So, don't be surprised if something very similar does make it to dealerships.

Skoda has also been highlighting its green credentials with the Fabia Greenline.

The concept car has been built to demonstrate Skoda's ability to produce economical and environmentally friendly vehicles. It emits 110g/km carbon dioxide and returns 69mpg.

That compares with Volkswagen's most frugal Polo Bluemotion, which is also in the supermini class, which emits 99g/km of carbon dioxide and records 70.4mpg.

Further Greenline models of the Octavia, Octavia estate and Fabia estate are planned.

Finally, there's a new petrol engine for the Octavia and Octavia estate. It is a 158bhp 1.8 TSI, which replaces the current 148bhp 2.0 TSI.
