Subaru has turned up in Frankfurt with what it describes as 'the biggest new model blitz in its history'.
However, if we're being strictly accurate, some of the exhibits are only new to Europe.
The revised Tribeca 4x4 – now with a fresh face, bigger glass area, revised suspension, recalibrated auto gearbox and more performance from a six-cylinder engine that has been enlarged from 3.0 to 3.6 litres – was seen in New York in April, for instance.
Likewise, the clean diesel engine due to start appearing in a number of models next year was first paraded in Geneva in March.
There is some all-new metal, though: the next Impreza that goes on sale next month, and an all-new Justy supermini that's really the Daihatsu Sirion in disguise. Daihatsu will even build it for Subaru.
Subaru is going all mainstream, introducing 1.5- and 2.0-litre engines in a hatchback body while ditching the saloon and estate that have served it in the past.
There's a late addition to the line-up in the 2.5-litre WRX turbo, which will be on sale in the UK in limited numbers from November.
There will be a quick STi in time, but not before next year, and we'll also get the clean diesel in the new Impreza, but not before 2009.
The new Justy arrives towards the end of this year, and is being touted as a car for cost-conscious motorists who also want to do their bit for the environment. It is powered by a 1.0-litre engine that, in the Sirion, is rated at 56.5mpg in the official combined test, with CO2 emissions of 118g/km.
