The emphasis is on small cars at Vauxhall, although the models on display at Frankfurt wear Opel badges.
The display is headed by next spring's
new Agila city car. As with the outgoing model, it's a product of a co-operation deal with Suzuki.
The difference this time is that Suzuki has done all the development work, and will even build the Agila for Vauxhall-Opel at its factory in Hungary, alongside its own version, the
Splash (also unveiled at the show).
Last time round, with the old Agila and the closely-related Suzuki Wagon R+, each manufacturer used its own engines and built its own cars, at least initially.
Agila and Splash are based on the Japanese company's highly-rated
Swift supermini and differ only in minor details around the nose and tailgate.
They'll be available with three-cylinder 1.0-litre and four-cylinder 1.2-litre Suzuki petrol engines, plus a 1.3-litre turbodiesel sourced from Fiat.
To ensure Agila undercuts the
Corsa on price, we'd expect the range to start at £6500 for the 1.0, depending on specification.
