Frankfurt motor show 2011 - BMW 1 Series M Sport

12 September 2011
• Styling upgrades
• Same engine line-up
• Dynamic changes are optional

BMW has revealed M Sport versions of its new 1 Series at Frankfurt, ahead of the official launch in spring 2012.

The 1-Series M Sport pack consists of exterior and interior styling enhancements. Most obvious is the more aggressive front bumper, with bigger air inlets and a distinctive M-style cut-out to the lower front splitter. There’s a sportier rear bumper design, larger alloy wheels and more sculpted side sills, too.

Inside, the 1 Series M Sport features an M Sport leather steering wheel and gear knob, new upholstery for the sports seats, and familiar ‘M’ badging.

The M Sport line will use the same all-turbo engine range as the rest of the 1 Series, including 134bhp-168bhp petrols and 116-182bhp diesels. More powerful versions are expected to arrive in time.

British buyers choose M Sport versions above every other variant in the BMW range, and the UK is the biggest market in the world for M Sport models.

M Sport trim will not force buyers to choose stiffer M Sport suspension. As standard, the M Sport's suspension is 10mm lower and stiffer than other models', but buyers can select the standard suspension set-up at no extra cost.
