Frankfurt motor show 2011 - Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4

12 September 2011
• Race-inspired Gallardo
• Just 150 models will be made
• 0-62mph in 3.4sec, top speed 198.8mph

Lamborghini has unveiled the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stadale on the eve of the Frankfurt motor show.

Just 150 models of the most extreme Gallardo will be built. It's powered by a 562bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine mated to a robotised e-gear six-speed, paddle-shift transmission.

The use of lightweight carbonfibre and aluminium ensures the car is 70kg lighter than the LP560-4.

It sprints from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds – 0.3 seconds faster than the 'standard' Gallardo. Top speed is 198.8mph. If you are interested in such figures – average fuel economy is 13mpg, and the car emits 319g/km of carbon dioxide.

The huge rear spoiler helps create a huge amount of downforce and can be adjusted to optimise the car's performance 'according to the track or road characteristics' says Lamborghini.

'No other model in the Gallardo range is as close to being a true race car,' said the company.

Why just 150 models? To celebrate Italy's 150th anniversary of its unification.
