Frankfurt motor show 2011 - Maserati Kubang

12 September 2011
• Premium, powerful SUV
• Rumours persist the car will be built in America
• Maserati admit to 'potential synergies' with Jeep

Maserati has pulled the covers of this Kubang SUV concept car.

In the run up to the Frankfurt show, there were rumours that a Maserati 4x4 would be built in Detriot, USA – Maserati's parent company Fiat owns Jeep.

However Maserati simply stated in Frankfurt that 'potential synergies' between it and Jeep are the catalyst for Maserati to build this concept car. It says, however, the Kubang will be 'unmistakeably Maserati'.

It will be powered by a new generation of V8 petrol engines and will have a new eight-speed automatic gearbox. The car will sit below the new Quattroporte.

If the name sounds familiar, Maserati revealed a Kubang back at the 2003 Detroit motor show.
