Sporty hatchback on sale next year
134bhp, 44.1mpg, 147g/km CO2
Updated chassis and suspension, styling tweaks, too
Suzuki has launched an all-new
Swift Sport at the Frankfurt motorshow.
The sporty supermini will go on sale in the UK early next year.
It has an updated version of the 1.6-litre petrol engine from the previous Swift Sport but with more power and improved economy.
The Suzuki Swift Sport has 134bhp, which will put it on similar power stakes to the
Renault Twingo Renaultsport, rather than the 200bhp of a similar-sized
Clio Renaultsport. It has an average fuel economy of 44.1mpg and emits 147g/km of carbon dioxide.
The three-door-only car has a new six-speed gearbox and has updated suspension and chassis developments over the standard Swift, which will improve the car's handling, says Suzuki.
There are styling differences that mark the Sport out from the standard Swift, too, including a large front grille, new front headlights and fog lights, a large rear spoiler and new rear bumper trim with twin exhausts.
The Swift Sport also comes with seven airbags and electronic stability control.
Prices haven't yet been revealed, but we'd estimate the car to cost around £14,000.
