Frankfurt motor show 2011 - Vauxhall Insignia

• Revisions across entire Insignia family
• Turbocharged 1.4-litre engine joins the range
• Improved economy and emissions on Ecoflex models

Frankfurt gave us our first chance to see the revised 2012 Vauxhall Insignia.

Changes to the car include a new engine, improved economy and emissions on existing models and some new optional equipment.

The new engine is a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol unit, which is as powerful as the existing 1.8, but considerably more economical and with lower emissions. That will mean lower bills for private and company owners alike.

At the same time, the Ecoflex diesel models gain a start/stop system. This further reduces their emissions and improves their fuel economy, without having any effect on their performance.

All Insignia models with a manual transmission now have a new power steering system. Vauxhall says this will not only improve the cars’ handling, but also reduce their emissions, because the system only has the hydraulic pump running when it’s needed.

Finally, the revised Inisgnia will feature some new options. These include two new infotainment systems, while the Front Camera system includes both a collision prevention system and Traffic Sign Recognition.

The 2012 Insignia is available to order now, and deliveries start on September 23rd.
