Fuel contamination riddle continues - What's going on?

01 March 2007
Petrol retailers say they have still found no evidence of fuel contamination, despite hundreds of complaints from motorists.

Tesco and Morrisons both say they have found no problem with their fuel after motorists in the South East complained of their engines misfiring and stalling after filling up. Besides Morrisons, Tesco also says it sources fuel from the same bunker in Essex as Jet, Total, Texaco, Asda and Somerfield.

Whatcar.com readers have been e-mailing us their stories, complaining that their cars have needed the fuel system flushed and often require other parts such as air sensors. Some bills have run into thousands of pounds.
