Geneva Motor Show 2004 - Daewoo

02 March 2004
Daewoo’s new Nubira estate made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show today. It is set to go on sale in September priced from around £10,500.

The boot can carry 400 litres with the rear seats in place and 1410 litres when folded down. That’s less than a Ford Focus estate, even though the Daewoo is slightly bigger. However, the manufacturer promises impressive cabin space for five adults.

The seat base can be tilted using a rotary control, while the lumbar support adjusts using a lever and the steering wheel moves for rake and reach, so it’s easy to find a comfortable driving position.

Power will come from two petrol engines at launch. The entry-level 1.6-litre model develops 109bhp and returns 34.5mpg on the combined cycle. A five-speed manual gearbox will be fitted as standard, while the larger-engined car gets the option of a four-speed automatic.

Daewoo says a range of diesel engines, developed by owner GM in association with Fiat, will be available towards the end of 2005.

Every car will come with anti-lock brakes and front and side airbags. Expect most to have air-conditioning, remote central locking and electric windows as standard.
