Lamborghini today revealed the production version of its Murcielago roadster that was first shown in concept form at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2003.
The car has electronically controlled roll-over bars that spring into action only when needed. It also has special stiffening, particularly around the engine bay, to preserve the coupe’s stiffness, plus redesigned rear styling without altering the overall dimensions of the coupe, and a more extreme and exclusive interior.
It uses the same 6.2-litre 580bhp V12 engine as the coupe. An optional soft-top roof will be available, which is designed only for temporary use in bad weather.
The new roadster is likely to go on sale in March 2005, costing from around £193,000.
