Mazda’s MX-Flexa concept car, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, previews its new 4 MPV which is set to arrive in spring 2005.
In terms of size, the MX-Flexa sits midway between Mazda’s Premacy midi-MPV and the seven-seater MPV, both of which will be discontinued when the 4 is launched.
The 4 is likely to have a flexible seating layout, and although the concept is a six-seater, production versions should have a seven-seat option like the
Renault Grand Scenic and new Toyota Corolla
Verso.
Specifications have yet to be announced, but the 4 is likely to cost from £14,000 and should have six airbags, anti-lock brakes, electric windows, remote central locking and electric mirrors. Most models should also get a CD player and air-conditioning.
We expect the 4 to be offered with Mazda’s 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines and a 2.0-litre petrol. An automatic gearbox is also likely to be an option.
