Geneva Motor Show 2004 - Rolls-Royce

02 March 2004
Rolls-Royce celebrated its centenary by unveiling this 100EX convertible concept.

Although the official line is that the concept won’t make production, a great deal of investment has gone into developing it over the past year into a fully running model.

Insiders admit that elements of the 100EX could eventually appear in production models, although a convertible Rolls-Royce wouldn’t go on sale for at least five years.

Built on the same platform as the Phantom, the 100EX is 165mm shorter than that car and 71mm lower. Teak and aluminium finishes are used in the cabin, which is accessed by a pair of rearward-opening coach doors like those seen on the Phantom.

Power is supplied by a 9.0-litre, 64-valve naturally aspirated V16 engine, although no power or performance figures have yet been released.
