Volvo unveiled its YCC concept car at the Geneva Motor Show today.
The YCC, or Your Concept Car, was developed by an all-female design team and is aimed at female professionals, but Volvo hopes it will also appeal to male customers.
The sporty coupe has extra durable rubber bumpers all the way around to protect the 'chameleon' paintwork, which changes from green to gold or blue to yellow, depending on the light.
The wide gullwing doors open upwards and the lower sill drops down to make access to the YCC’s cabin easy. And, if your hands are full, the key-operated 'Active-Open' system means the doors can be opened automatically.
Finding the ideal driving position in the YCC is easy thanks to fully adjustable seats, steering wheel, pedals, head restraints and seat belt. The dashboard is minimalist and the gearstick and handbrake are positioned on the steering wheel, to make space for storage. The central console has room for mobile phones, keys, laptop computers - it even houses a refrigerator and a waste basket.
The car's interior style can be changed in minutes - there are eight different seat pad options, ranging from brown leather to floral embroidered, and a range of interchangeable matching carpets.
The rear seats are folded up, like cinema seats, until they are needed, making more space for luggage in the rear.
Volvo has no plans to put the YCC into production, although a spokesman said elements of its design would find their way into future Volvo models over the next few years.
