Geneva motor show 2008 - Alfa Romeo: cars you can buy

04 March 2008
Alfa has shown off a facelifted 159 here at Geneva.

Actually, a nipped and tucked 159 might be a more appropriate description. The new model has lost 45kg, thanks in part to lighter alloy wheels and aluminum brake calipers.

Alfa says the weight loss will improve the car's driving characteristics and fuel consumption, although the company hasn't released details on the extent of the fuel savings.

The main changes from the current car can be found in the interior, with updates to the dashboard, dashboard graphics and its satellite-navigation system.

On the safety front, its 'Q2' system, which helps the car grip in corners, is now standard across the range. So, too, are eight airbags.

The Brera and Spider also get similar weight-saving treatments and subtle changes to their interior for 2008.
