The KTM X-Bow is finally going into production. The only problem is that you won't be able to buy one now.

The initial run of 100 cars is branded as the Dallara Series, after the world-leading Italian chassis constructor Dallara.

The carbon-fibre-bodied X-Bow is powered by a 220bhp version of Volkswagen's 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. Weighing just 700kg, the car can travel from zero to 62mph in 3.9 seconds.

Trouble is, such performance and the relatively modest £39,000 price mean that all of the cars have already been-pre-ordered.
KTM says the cars should be with customers in late 2007 or early 2008.
