If you're not too dazzled by the orange colour scheme, what you see here is the Mitsubishi Lancer Prototype-S concept car. It shows how the hot hatch Lancer Sportback will look when it goes on sale this autumn.

The five-door hatchback will have a 237bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, high-speed twin-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive.

Mitsubishi expects the Lancer hatchback to account for 80% of the model's sales in the UK, vying with the Subaru Impreza WRX for customers.

Alongside it here in Geneva is Mitsubishi's electric i-EV, which is based on the i small city car, and which the company hopes to put into production by 2010.
