Geneva motor show - Cadillac

06 March 2007
It's not giving up
Undaunted by low sales (so low, in fact, that it asks the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders not to detail them each month), Cadillac is continuing its assault on the UK market.

So, this is the first appearance in Europe of the new CTS, a rival to models such as the BMW 5 Series.

Unlike the current version of the car, this one will be available in right-hand drive and with a diesel engine when it goes on sale in the UK next year.

The 2.8-litre diesel has proved its worth in a number of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge products, and will be joined by a pair of V6 petrols developing up to 300bhp (50bhp more than you can get now).

Anything else?
The manufacturer has confirmed that the estate version (based on the Saab 9-3 that's already available in right-hand drive), will go into production later this year. It wasn't at the show, but click on the gallery link to take a look at the first pictures that were released soon after.

It also promises that the big STS saloon and SRX 4x4 will also be available in right-hand drive by the middle of 2008.

Even so, we'd expect Cadillacs to be almost as rare as hens' teeth for some time, so if you're looking for something different...
