Geneva motor show - Jaguar

06 March 2007
Can we see the new XF?
Jaguar's moment in the spotlight will have to wait until the Frankfurt Show in September, when it wheels out the XF, the stunning replacement for the S-type.

There is something to see, though - the revised XJ, and a limited-edition XKR called Portfolio. Both go on sale in summer.

A revised XJ. How revised?
Don't go getting all excited - the changes are largely cosmetic, and pretty minor at that.

The front bumper, grilles and badge are different, as are the sills, door mirrors and wheels, and there are now vents in the front wings like those in the XK, as well as a subtle rear spoiler.

That it?
Not quite. Heated front seats become standard (they also have cooling vents in the Executive model, which has a heated front screen, too).

New backrests give rear passengers a bit more legroom, and the Bluetooth hands-free phone connection has been uprated - handy, given the recent law changes in the UK.

You can also now have the V6 diesel engine in the long-wheelbase body.

And the XKR Portfolio?
It comes in black or silver, with 20-inch wheels, the biggest brakes ever on a production Jaguar, exclusive dash cappings and Bowers and Wilkins stereo speakers.

The UK will get about 60 cars out of a production run of 500 at an as-yet-undeclared price.
