A baby convertibleThis year sees the introduction of no fewer than four metal-roofed convertibles based on small family cars.
If they're all a bit big and pricey for you, Mitsubishi might have the answer, with this funky-looking CZC which goes on sale in April from £13,999.
Like the
Nissan Micra C+C, Peugeot 206 CC and Vauxhall Tigra, the CZC has an electrically-folding metal roof. There's 2+2 seating, which, as usual for this size of convertible, means that the rear seats aren't much use for anyone but children.
Every model in the range is well kitted out with four airbags, air-conditioning, alloy wheels, MP3 CD stereo and front fog lights. The £15,999 Turbo version has stability and traction control, part leather seats, a more aggressive-looking front bumper and different alloy wheels.
The cheaper model uses a 107bhp 1.5-litre engine, has a 0-62mph time of 10.5sec, top speed of 114mph and combined fuel consumption of 42.8mpg. The 147bhp Turbo sprints to 62mph in 8.4sec, tops 126mph and returns 39.8mpg.
An engine for each wheel?Yes, but electric motors. The EZ MIEV is a showcase for new in-wheel electric motors that Mitsubishi plans to put on production cars by 2010.
There's one 27bhp motor in each wheel, so overall the EZ MIEV has a reasonable 108bhp to play with.
