Geneva motor show - Toyota

06 March 2007
Lean, green and mean
Toyota is promoting its green credentials at Geneva, with two hybrid concept cars taking the centre stage.

What's the Hybrid X, then?
Arguably the most important is the Hybrid X, making its world debut in Geneva, and we can tell you categorically what it isn't - this isn't a replacement for the Prius. Instead, Toyota is promoting the car as a showcase to future hybrid technology.

It's also possibly a glimpse into the styling of future Toyotas, with the manufacturer claiming the concept car starts a 'new design language' for its hybrids.

And the FT-HS?
This is Europe's first chance to see the catchily titled Future Toyota - Hybrid Sports.

We've seen the 400bhp hybrid at the Detroit motor show at the start of the year. If you didn't catch our Detroit coverage, click here for our impressions and the full low-down of the concept car.

Any actual metal?
In another European first, visitors to Geneva can catch the three-door version of the Auris small family car. The car will be on sale in the UK next month.

Interestingly, if you like to buy British-built cars, stick with the five-door version, because it is made in Burnaston in Derbyshire, while the three-door version is built in Turkey.
