Geneva Motor Show - Vauxhall

28 February 2006
This new GT looks stunning…
Yes it does. Unfortunately, there are still no guarantees that Vauxhall will bring the GT to the UK.

At the moment, it's talking to dealers to see how they'd feel about selling limited numbers of the car in left-hand drive (it will certainly never be converted to right-hand drive).

It's based around American cars from the General Motors stable, such as the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky, and the rear-wheel-drive car is powered by a 257bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine.

That jumps the GT to 62mpg in less than six seconds and gives it a top speed of more than 140mph.

How soon might it arrive?
Sales don’t even start on the Continent until spring next year, so even if it gets the thumbs up from UK dealers, you'll have a considerable wait.

Realistically, the soonest you might see the GT next to an Astra in your local showroom is summer 2007.
