Geneva Motor Show - Volkswagen

Look into my eyes, not around my eyes
Volkswagen reckons the front of its Concept A coupe/off-roader looks like a cheetah.

We reckon it looks more like the front of a small 4x4 that it's going to launch next year.

The Concept A paves the way for the Golf-based car, which has been in development for some time. The company's original plans were to launch it this year.

So, the radiator and headlights are the most likely elements to survive to the production car – the sloping coupe roofline is the least likely.

The Concept A is powered by a Twincharger engine which, in a very clever and complicated arrangement, uses both a turbocharger and a supercharger.

Is it powerful, then?
Well, with pressure in the cylinder increased by two turbines, one driven by exhaust gases and the other by the camshaft, the Twincharger engine manages to develop, erm, 148bhp.

That's exactly the same as the standard, normally-aspirated 2.0-litre petrol engine.
