Government’s new road laws - Drink driving

17 May 2005
Test programmes for alcohol locks, which prevent a convicted drink-driver’s car from starting if alcohol is detected, are retained. The Government hopes the locks will help to reduce the number of convicted drink-drivers who re-offend.

The plan to make prosecutions of drink drivers easier by allowing roadside tests to be used as evidence in court is no longer included as it was previously passed in other Home Office bills.
