An SUV based on the Honda Jazz will be launched within the next two years, Honda has confirmed.
The new SUV will be a rival for the likes of the Mini Countryman, Nissan Juke and Skoda Yeti, and will be based on the all-new Jazz, which is due on sale in 2013.
Honda hasn't released any technical details, or confirmed a name for the new model.
Several new compact SUVs are due on sale over the next 12 months. The Vauxhall Mokka goes on sale in late 2012, while the closely related Chevrolet Trax is expected in the spring.
Also coming in 2013 are the Peugeot 2008 – an SUV based on the 208 – and the new Ford Ecosport, a Fiesta-based SUV.
An SUV based on the all-new Renault Clio is also due next year, and Fiat has announced that it will expand its 500 model range with an SUV based on the 500L.
